    Levin Dean, Jr.
    Levin Dean, Jr.
The youngest son of Levin Deane/Dean (1764-1822). This photo was originally a tintype and was later processed by John E. Stillians (1857-1929)--oldest living son of William Stillians, Jr (1826-1907) and Rachel Dilley (1836-1902). Levin Jr. died in 1879. processed into photographs and made copies. The original was given to Sarah Jane Lacock and to Mary Margaret Dean-Inghram Stillians when Levin visited them in 1864. John gave this copy to his sister, Mary Elizabeth Stillians Clay (1849-1915), and it passed down to her daughter (my grandmother)--Adelia Viola Clay Inman (1869-1951). Reportedly, Levin Jr. bore a strong resemblance to his father. This photo was probably taken late 1840s-early 1850s.
