Photos | December Court 1827 Penny and Scott December Court 1827 Personally appeared in open court John Penny and made oath that in the year 1782 he married the widow of a certain John Scott whose father William Scott removed to Kentucky many years ago as this deponent has always understood and believes, the said John Scott died in Virginia having two daughters Nancy and Betsy Scott. Betsy Scott died many years ago leaving several children. This deponent recollects that some years ago a certain [blank in orig] Talbot a resident of Kentucky came to this state and informed the deponent that the said Nancy and Betsy Scott had legacies bequeathed to them by the will of their grandfather who died in Kentucky. The said Talbot purchased the interest of Nancy Scott under the said will. Also appeared William Grady and made oath that he knew John Scott who died in Virginia many years ago leaving two daughters Nancy and Betsy Scott, Nancy Scott is still alive. Betsy Scott died in the year 1814 as well as the deponent recollects leaving 5 children to wit Sarah who intermarried with a certain John McWhirt, Nancy who intermarried with a certain Bela [or Pela] Wigginton, Elizabeth who intermarried with Daniel Bolling, William, and Angelina. This deponent recollects that some years ago a certain [blank in orig] Talbot a resident of Kentucky came to this state and informed this deponent that the aforementioned Nancy and Betsy Scott had legacies bequeathed to them by the will of their grandfather who lived and died in that state.
