A BOY DROWNED
Johnnie Skyler, a boy 15 years of age, residing with his parents at 825 Biddle Street, was swiming in the river at the foot of Carr street yesterday when he was seized with cramps and drowned. Several people saw the boy trying to reach the shore, but his strength failed him and before assistance arrived he disappeared. The body of a boy was found at the foot of Soulard street yesterday afternoon and it is thought to be that of young Skyler. The remains were removed to the morgue.

On the body of
John Skyler
825 Biddle Street
Matilda Skyler being duly sworn testifies. The deceased is my child, he is 13 years of age, born in Russia.
At about 6 u.c. last evening he went to the river to bathe at the foot of Carr and he went beyond his depth and was drowned his body was recovered. I will bury his remains. The drowning was purely accidental.

Henry Grupp being duly sworn testifies. I reside on Miller (+o) DeKalb St. At 6u.c. last evening I found deceased floating in the river at the foot of Soulard St. I turned him over to the police. Henry (his) X Grupp for sworn and substantiated before me this 9th day of August 1888.
